Rules and Regulations

Riders who missed Check Point’s cut off time (COT) will be considered Do Not Finish (DNF). However, riders are allowed to continue cycle through the rest of the journey from the last check point as Non-Competitive (NC) but are not eligible for COT FINISHER REWARD.

CROSSING BORDERS

  • Riders must bring their valid legal documents / Passport to cross border between Indonesia and Malaysia.

  • Riders are required to fill in Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) at https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main?registerMain before entering Malaysia.

  • Riders will enter Malaysia from Badau Border (Indonesia) to Lubuk Antu Border (Malaysia).

  • Riders will return back to Indonesia from Biawak Border (Malaysia) to Aruk Border (Indonesia).

  • All borders operation hours are from 08.00 to 16.00 daily (GMT+7).

  • Please note that there is a 1 hour difference between Indonesia (GMT+7) and Malaysia (GMT+8)

ROAD SAFETY

  • All riders must be visible on the road and have sufficient lights to ride safely in all visibility conditions.

  • We will check the following mandatory safety equipment during registration: Helmet, front and rear lights, reflective upper body garment.

All participants are not allowed to :

  • Drafting behind another rider or vehicle.

  • Receiving assistance from support vehicles or friends/family during the ride.

  • Pre-arranged accommodation, meals, or resupply points.

  • Assistance in navigation, repairs, or any physical aid.

Any conduct of these prohibition will result in DISQUALIFICATION and riders are not eligible for FINISHER REWARD.

  1. Do I need passport / travel documents for LINTAS BORNEO?

    Yes. You need a passport / travel documents to join LINTAS BORNEO.

  2. Do I need visa to pass the border between two countries?

    Riders from ASEAN countries DON’T need a visa to cross both countries. As for other international riders, please refer to your country immigration regulations.

  3. What bike do I need for LINTAS BORNEO?

    Recommended : Road bike with min 28mm tire, gravel bike, hybrid, hardtail mountain bike, folding bike with minimum 1.5 inches tire.

    Not recommended : fixed gear with both front & rear brakes installed, full suspension mountain bike.

    Prohibited : e-bike, motorized powered bike, fixed gear without any brakes installed.

  4. What equipment / gears is mandatory?

    • Helmet

    • Front and rear lights with spare lights

    • High visibility safety vest, which can always be worn as outer layer of your cycling apparel.

    • First aid kit

    • Personal medication

    • Emergency blanket

    • Bicycle tools kit

    • Spare tubes

    • Hand pump

  5. What items do you recommend packing? (optional)

    • Rain jacket.

    • Sleeping equipment (optional)

    • Food supplies

  6. How is the weather conditions?

    Since we are at the equator, the weather is mostly hot and humid. It rain sometimes and expect strong winds and thunderstorm.

  7. What surface do I have to expect?

    The route is 90% paved roads with few potholes on certain areas. The rest is a mix of tarmac, gravel and hard red clay soil.

  8. How does LINTAS BORNEO monitor and ensure that every participant comply with the rules?

    • We will not be able to ensure that all participants will comply with the regulations.

    • We will process all incoming fraud/non-compliance reports.

    • As an independent cycling event, we hopes that every participant will uphold the values of honesty and integrity.

  9. What kind of penalties will be given for violation of the rules?

    Penalties will be given in a form of warning, time penalties, and/or disqualification.

  10. Can I appeal the committee’s decision?

    No, the committee’s decision is taken collectively by the LINTAS BORNEO team and is final.

  11. Where can I leave my bags/luggage/bike box safely during the ride?

    Since the start and finish point is at the same place, you can leave your unused bags/luggage/bike box safely at the hotel you are staying.
